The Mille Miglia Collection

The Mille Miglia Collection

State of Art has strong connections with ‘la corsa più bella del mondo’, the Mille Miglia. State of Art participates in the rally every year with a continuously changing team. Besides, State of Art has been a chief sponsor since 2007 and every year introduces the official clothing line, the Mille Miglia collection.State of Art knows the route from Brescia to Rome and vice versa like the back of its hand. State of Art has been officially associated with the event for many years. Its first year as a chief sponsor in 2007 was a logical step for the organisation, following a long history as an exceptionally great enthusiast of the rally.

When the Brescia Automobile Club decided to re-establish the Mille Miglia Cup in 1977 and organise a new edition after 20 years, Albert Westerman was 34 years old. His passion for classic races and classic Porsches was rekindled when the most beautiful race in the world was held again. Throughout the years, his commitment to the sport increased, which led to the establishment of the State of Art brand in 1987. As the brand grew, the ties with the Mille Miglia grew stronger accordingly. In 1999, it finally happened: Albert Westerman drove the blue Porsche 550 Spyder 1500 RS from 1955 in the Mille Miglia as a racing driver for the first time. A great experience that was very moreish, as well as an excellent result into the bargain. When this dream had come true, the next opportunity presented itself: making State of Art clothing for this great race. In 2007, this dream came true with the chief sponsorship. State of Art could use its expertise, developing timeless quality clothing for the official Mille Miglia clothing line targeted at those actively living life to the full. From then on, Team State of Art has appeared at the start every year, each year with a larger team of talented drivers and enthusiastic prominent people

Wearing a flying suit and leather helmet, Charles Lindbergh prepared for the most important flight of his life. At 7.52 a.m. on May 20, 1927, ”Lindbergh buckled his safety belt, stuffed each ear with a wad of cotton, strapped on his wool-lined helmet, and pulled his goggles down over his eyes,” wrote A. Scott Berg in his biography entitled ”Lindbergh.”

"It's the greatest shot of adrenaline to be doing what you have wanted to do so badly. You almost feel like you could fly without a plane."
–Charles A. Lindbergh

Exceptional Collections

Exceptional Collections

The Barts design team works all year around to provide you with the best and most balanced collection of hats, scarfs, gloves and bags. On their website you will find a selection of their collection. Every year the Barts collection is based on themes which inspires the design team with colors, styles and shapes. This years themes are:

Dockworker
A rough industrial theme is apparent. They take a visit to the docklands of Northern Europe. Colors are dark and heavy and are roughened by washes or battering, or they are dusty like rust, mustard and denim. Inspired by workwear they see turn-up beanie and rough ribs and big patterned mohair scarves. In this story the newsboy cap fits in perfectly and huge travelbags compete the look.

Retro Ski
A fifties outlook, we go back to the era when skiing grew in popularity and the first trends in ski appareal were developed. Bold colors such as red, sky blue and fresh white are complemented by a touch of sulphur yellow. Retro knitted patterns are fresh and vivid patches add a fun feeling to this group.

Where The Wild Things Are
A sense of a Northern hemisphere scenery with frozen snow landscapes and only spare refuge from the cold. The need to stay warm is reflected in layering, warm fur snoods, animalistic hats, densely knitted loop scarves and rough cables, creating a vagabond look. New warm colors such as camel complete this look.

Digital Youth
Youth culture coexists around computer games and festivals; colors and angles are sharp. Based on this storyline we see lively patterned beanies and snoods with flashing colors. Huge yarn is complemented by fresh and fine patterns and daring pixels of color; a kaleidoscope of irrestible items.

New Collection

New Collection

Museum was founded 25 years ago from the desire to gather together and sell an authentic North American inspired mood and for this reason they started to collaborate with the most important Canadian and American brands. It is still an authentic and timeless collection which mixes an in-depth knowledge of North American culture with a contemporary interpretation of their design. The archives are therefore in continual development, because research is the basis of every collection; if you follow them around, they will show you the small historical archive they have put together in these years of travelling and research.

Today as you can see the product has been improved greatly.. both in wearability and also in the materials used. Research is never enough; in the Museum you will find a selection that is continuously updated and implemented of the best fabrics and the best feathers coming from all over the world, which are tested in our prototype department. Selecting and testing directly on their premises has a great advantage. They can verify the performance of the fabrics with different types of feathers. It is very important to the Museum to produce all prototypes on the premises in order to be able to understand fully all technical aspects and then to send them to the production platforms around the world.

Passion is certainly an essential element but so is the sense of teamwork. It is the people who make the difference, and they should be motivated but it is also necessary to share the same dream with them.
